Our first Amaryllis bloom of the winter!

I completely adore our winter-blooming Amaryllis, and the first flower of the winter has just opened! Just so majestic and incredibly long-lasting in a vase. With colours varying from deep red, peach and pink to white, cream and greenish, they provide the perfect divas to winter floral displays, bouquets and weddings. Really I should call them Hippeastrum, but that's an ugly name for a beautiful flower. They are native to the south American continent, and clearly they are not that fussy as they grow perfectly happily in my kitchen, providing me with blooms from November right into spring.
